Happy new year! To ring it in, King Liger is here to officially announce he is completed. He will be available for purchase later this month after all Kickstarter rewards are fulfilled. In the mean time here are some close up pics showing him off.

Hey all! So I've been able to get in touch with Amy over at Lulubell toys and able to provide more updates as Lulubell's Japanese base was still recovering from the fire last year. Amy was able to touch base with me this week with some great news! They've been able to start getting back on track out in Japan. This means that King Liger's process is back in gear!  The first step (The wax) should be finished by the end of May, or there abouts. After this, the creation of the mold will be under way. It will most likely be about 4 months until the mold is officially finished and the actual production of figures can finally begin.  Just note that the molding step may be a bit longer, and will depend on the work load of the factory. It may also be a bit harder to keep you all updated until the mold is officially back in had at Lulubell.  I want to thank you all for being patient during this time. I recently put an update King Liger's Kickstarter, so I won't be rewriting this. As you recall in one of the previous posts, I made some sprite animations of the potential characters for the King Liger series. While there is no guarantee that they will be made, I thought it would be cool to try a different approach to them in pixel art. I really enjoyed the semi-real look of early Sega Genesis/Megadrive games, so I thought I would give it a go with M.Stangdaalyn. Here are a few that I have done. Enjoy! SO this is a big update. First I did a video update for Kick Starter that covers a major change in direction on the completion:  https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/geoffmaxfield/the-lord-of-beasts-king-liger-the-action-figure/posts/1801981 With this in mind, the original wax sculpt of King Liger made it safely to Luke in Japan and production will be underway in a matter of weeks. I do think this will be a better approach as it was possible my tooling may not have been accepted anyway due to standards that may have been in place. This will also guarantee a more quality product. I'll keep you posted as things develop.

The electro-forming step of the mold is complete! Here are the copper cavities after the wax was melted out. The steel plate is nearing its completion as well. To be continued...

The cavities have are finished! Next is the getting the steel frame fabricated. Here is the layout before cutting begins. The whole thing should be done by the end of the month, then it's off to Japan.

Yes! King Liger is officially funded.  Now the real work begins. From this point on, I am going to attempt to document the process so people inquiring on what goes into making rotocast tooling. So I have been recording video and VO for the video for Kickstarter. It's getting unbearably close to getting started. So stay tuned!

The mold continues to grow!

Here are all the stretch goal sprites: (from left to right) King Liger, Daikuma, David, Grackus, The Gruin, Magtut, Romanov, Rose Pierre, Shockrah, Dr. Silverado, M. Stangdaalyn, Twist Kid, and Honey Boy.   The Kickstarter is getting closer and closer to getting started. There have been some life events that have pushed it back such as having a child (a very welcomed, one mind you), but things are definitely ramping up for this spring to hopefully get things going. I'll be keeping you posed...

I had been racking my brain about what would be the best idea for a T-shirt reward would be. I didn't want to get too complicated, but I didn't want to be too simple. I then remembered The look that Shinsuke Nakamura has for his King of Strong Style design. I know it's been parodied before, but enough so that it would be hopefully welcomed one more time. People have been asking and I do have updates on the King Liger mold. So far, this is how the copper has attached. Everything looks pretty good, but I did noticed that there was a line forming across his left side that does concern me as I thought I got all of the mold lines cleaned off. Here's to hoping it's not an issue. To be continued...
